6 March 2024 UK Stem

Last summer, our year 5 pupils had Mike Cargill from UK STEM pay a visit to discuss renewable energy. He focused on wind turbines with the children. Mike provided some 3D model wind turbines that he had created. They worked brilliantly and the children enjoyed the lesson, where they measured the impact blade design had on efficiency, immensely. Pictures from his visit can also be seen on our school’s geography curriculum webpage. In addition, Mike asked children to design and then build a wind turbine. All of the resources were provided by Mike. The subsequent design was taken on a tour. He was incredibly knowledgeable and we were even permitted to show children a PPT he had obtained from an Orsted spokesperson. I can’t speak highly enough of the work Mike did with the children.
